Tulip is one of four galgos found living on the streets—none microchipped, one injured, and one still missing. She is surprising confident given what she endured. When they arrived to GDS, the dogs were utterly exhausted and very quiet. They have since seen the vet for bloodwork, and the white galgo received X-rays on the injured leg. These are wonderful dogs who never should have suffered this.
Despite claims that this “never happens,” it does. Thanks to the tireless work of Andrés Pete Salar, three were safely trapped and are at GDS. The fourth has been sighted and will hopefully be with us soon. Cases like this expose the reality that many galgos remain unregistered, unaccounted for, and invisible—despite claims of strong microchipping protections. A national registration database is urgently needed to ensure these dogs legally exist and cannot be ignored.
